Austria Franz Joseph I the Jubilee medal “Signum Memoriae” gilted

This medal was created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Emperor Franz Joseph I‘s rule and to honor those who worked in the civil government who met the requirements.

It was issued on August 18, 1898 and all persons who had done uninterrupted civil service between the years 1848 and 1898 were eligible for this medal.

The inscription on the front of the medal “AC. AP.REX HVNG”, so it was ment for the armed forces, while for civil service is inscribed “ET REX AP HVNG”.
