This 1925 Yugoslavia 2 Dinara coin is a beautifully preserved piece of early 20th-century Balkan history, issued during the reign of King Aleksandar I. Minted in copper-nickel at the Royal Mint of Belgium in Brussels, the coin is presented in uncirculated (UNC) condition with crisp details and only light circulation wear.
Obverse:
The obverse features a finely engraved left-facing portrait of King Aleksandar I, surrounded by the Cyrillic inscription:
“АЛЕКСАНДАР I. КРАЉ СРБА, ХРВАТА И СЛОВЕНАЦА”, meaning “Alexander I, King of the Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes.”
It is signed by the French engraver Henri-Auguste Patey, whose classical style gives the portrait regal clarity.
Reverse:
The reverse depicts the denomination “2 DINARA” and the year “1925”, encircled by a wreath of oak and laurel, symbols of strength and victory. A royal crown sits atop the design, and the Poissy mintmark can be found to the left of the ribbon—a subtle yet notable detail for collectors.
This coin reflects the aspirations of a newly unified South Slavic state and offers a tangible connection to the early years of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats, and Slovenes, later renamed Yugoslavia.
Ideal for collectors of:
Yugoslavian royal coinage
Interwar European history
Early copper-nickel currency
Portrait coins and Balkan numismatics
This is more than just a coin—it’s a piece of European geopolitical heritage in metal.
