Vintage Gotland Regiment Officer Button 13 mm, m/52 by C.C. Sporrong & Co
This vintage Gotland Regiment officer button (m/52) is a fine example of Swedish military craftsmanship, produced by C.C. Sporrong & Co, Stockholm — one of Scandinavia’s oldest and most respected uniform accessory makers. Measuring 13 mm in diameter, this button was part of the m/1952 uniform model, designed for officers of the Gotland Regiment (I 18), an elite Swedish infantry unit based on the island of Gotland.
The obverse showcases the regiment’s distinctive coat of arms — a crowned shield featuring the Lamb of God (Agnus Dei) holding a banner, symbolizing strength through faith and service. The matte gilt finish gives the surface a soft golden hue, subtly diffused to reduce glare while maintaining refined elegance. The reverse bears the stamped maker’s mark “C.C. SPORRONG & CO STOCKHOLM”, ensuring authenticity and high quality.
Introduced during the postwar modernization of the Swedish Armed Forces, the m/52 uniform series represented the balance between tradition and modern design. This button remains in excellent vintage condition, with crisp detail, clean shank, and a beautifully preserved matte gilt patina.
An ideal collectible for enthusiasts of Swedish militaria, regimental insignia, or Nordic uniform history, the Gotland Regiment officer button m/52 captures the heritage, symbolism, and craftsmanship of mid-century Swedish design.
