Description

Sterling Silver Plate with Dołęga Coat of Arms, 1931

Overview

This Rare sterling silver plate with the Dołęga coat of arms dates to 1931 and reflects fine European silversmith craftsmanship. It combines noble heraldry with high-quality Swedish silver work, making it a strong addition to any historical or silver collection.

Heraldic Significance

The plate features the Dołęga coat of arms, an ancient Polish heraldic emblem. Many Polish szlachta families used this symbol. Moreover, several Lithuanian szlachta families adopted it during the Union of Horodło in 1413. As a result, the plate represents shared Polish–Lithuanian noble history.

Craftsmanship and Material

C.G. Hallbergs of Stockholm produced this plate with great care. The silver surface shows a clean form and balanced proportions. In addition, the plate has a solid feel and refined finish that reflects skilled workmanship.

Hallmarks and Dating

The hallmarks clearly confirm authenticity and date:

  • Three Crowns (cat’s paw) – Swedish national control mark introduced in 1901

  • S in hexagon – Silver standard mark (minimum .800 silver)

  • Crowned figure – Stockholm town mark

  • E8 – Date letter confirming production in 1931
